It takes a lot...

A lot of stuff to keep our family of 5 going each week. Fruit, vegetables, 3 loaves of bread (wheat, white, cinnamon), ravioli, sauce, meat, fish, yogurt, crackers, cheese, vitamins, cereal, paper towels, baby food, wipes, etc. It makes for a really full cart at the grocery store. And a really ridiculously high bill - $300 last week.

Which makes it all the more embarrassing when you're all checked out with all the groceries sacked up and you kid munching on his new licorice and you realize you left your wallet at home.

Oh how pooey for you. I've done that but after I've had it all rung in and tallied up. How embarrassing and annoying too.
What did you do?

That's why I never let the kids (or myself) open up any food/drinks in the store before it's paid for. Even if I have my wallet in my hand I'm always paranoid that the Credit Card machine will break or something. And while I carry more cash over here in Hungary I never have 2 cents in my pocket in the States.

What did you do? I always feel a little anxious when I get to the counter until I reach into my bag and pull out my wallet.

Hi! Thanks for coming by my blog. We are meeting on Sept. 21st at 10am (1pm is too hot) at the Kemah Boardwalk Starbucks, next to the big roller coaster. You can e-mail me at kickinginside@yahoo.com if you have questions. Thanks!

I called Sean and had him wake up Juliette and load her and Hayden in his car (which doesn't have the proper rear-facing carseat, mind you) and bring me his ATM card so I could pay for the groceries.

The side benefit was that I was also able to impose on his services to load the groceries in the van. So it wasn't all bad.
